I'm so outraged rn that my friend Patricia, a DV survivor, after 15 yrs of incarceration was transferred to Aurora ICE detention. Not only will she be deported in a matter of mths to Belize, separated from her family, she now is COVID-19 positive! ICE transfers needs to stop.

One has to be heartless to not care about the transfer of ppl within prisons & to ICE detentions. Do they not comprehend that ppl's lives are at grave risks of contracting COVID-19. Ppl's lives are not indispensable just b/c of their conviction & status. I'm so piss! I'm crying!

I'm so tired of having to defend a person's honor when I'm asked about their conviction. I want to say 'why' does it matter, they've served their time? Don't they also deserve to live & be w/family? How is their life any less valuable than ppl like me or you?

To make matters worse they tried to tell Patti & 4 other women it's the flu. They had to literally beg ICE to test them. Now they are all COVID-19 positive & isolated together. But one person fell violently ill & was taken to the hospital. Patti is also high risk & now coughing.

I feel so much pain for Patti b/c I know what it's like to have COVID. It's one of the most painful experience to go through, yet for me I was able to heal in the comfort of my home. Incarcerated ppl are left to fend for themselves as prisons & detentions do not care.
