If anyone is going to write about the latest Israel/variant study, I suggest noting: this informative thread by one of the co-authors; that it's actually excellent news; and that vaccine resistance is NOT analogous to antibiotic resistance (which seems to be a common conflation).https://twitter.com/SternLab/status/1380922920734711811 …

I'm moving several states away after that 2nd dose kicks so I'm right there with you in spirit. I certainly won't mind still wearing a mask in public areas and all that, but I'm 100% moving forward with my life after this 15 month pause.

Just got sent an alarming framing/headline by a respectable organization already. *headdesk*pic.twitter.com/VWIcdOfmY8

Totally undersold. And the headlines are incorrect. The breakthrough happens BEFORE 2nd dose. So obnoxious and such poor reporting.

Since the early January Israel numbers are such common fodder for scaremongering by ppl like A.B. I have no doubt this study will be broadcast in those corners as proof that the vaccines are counter productive

It's already all over my inbox, but not by the vaccine hesitant (who aren't my social circles) but by people who think the study was terrible news because of how it's being framed by respectable orgs.

It is!! Big takeaway there, other is that b.1.1.7 has some extra immune challenge which would need consideration in any mRNA dosing delay..
