The fact we have Twitch for games videos but no equivalent for makeup videos tells us something about Silicon Valley.

There is something important about being live and synchronous and in-community when watching sports. Different value in edu, knowledge-transfer, skill sides of makeup videos. They may also be watched differently. I'm guessing shorter, just-in-time sessions for makeup vids.

What do you think is that important thing?

Suspense. Like live theater, sports is vivid from moment to moment. You don't know what will happen next. Climax, in the storystructure sense. The emotional stakes build during the contest. Your investment leads to
highs and lows, finally to tension gloriously released.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
Add to that: Sharing that experience with others. Watching sports live, with others, amplifies your own experience. Reifies it. Validates and authenticates it. Can imbue it with vivid purpose and chauvinistic fervor you might not reach as a solo voyeur, distanced in time.
