Currently, public sub counts are abbreviated in most but not all places across YouTube. In August, we’ll make this more consistent by always showing abbreviated sub counts publicly. Creators: You’ll still see your full sub count in Studio! Learn more → http://yt.be/help/abbrev-count …pic.twitter.com/pmaKk4EU4k

The devaluation of the sub-count continues. You can thank millennials' delusional obsession with M I N I M A L I S M for this.

I dont think it's about the millenials' obsession with minimalism, it is about the corporate obsession with shitty minimalism. Minimalism on it's own is okay but when it's impacting usability and making you click twice to do something you could do in one click that's a no no.

Generally you want to be somewhere where it is minimalistic enough so that a first time user does not get confused while trying to find something basic, and keep the essential options accessible in the shortest amount of time/clicks/taps possible. They don't quite get it.

Who the fuck looked at a sub count element and thought - "Hey, out of all the things that we can improve about the Youtube UI this one is the most important!"

And it's not always the UI that needs changing. Sure, some things could be changed (get rid of those autoplay videos on mobile home page), but it's a LOT of internal things that need to go (broken copyright system, anyone?).

Yeah, I have no clue how fixing their shitty copyright system is not their first priority. On the other hand, I can understand how they can ignore it seeing how most creators really don't have a decent monetizeable alternative to youtube.
