Ok, looking at more of the document, that was probably a hasty conclusion. I assumed that the pen register going active the same day an article ran meant the former was an immediate response to the latter. But there’s reason to think they’d zeroed in on Edwards already.

Could be. It seemed unusual that the pen register would just happen to go up the same day one of the articles ran, but it’s possible.

Yeah, the statutory text just says the pen register will apply to “facility.” It’s not tied to any particular medium of communication.
