Tried using Sigrok w/Rigol DS1054Z at
@revspacenl to collect traces, but failed. Any ideas on s/w to get sample data after a trigger? Or better to write something myself? I can turn knobs, but I need the data (synced to triggers). My first use of the
@revspacenl laser cutter: PCB stencil for the HorrorScope. The edges are a bit melted so it's not smooth on the top side - and I didn't flip the SVG - but it looks usable otherwise. (The damage at the top is due to power level testing on a nearby area).pic.twitter.com/MAcBuNmKh2

Not going to try doing BGA (even with nice stencil) until I'm comfortable with doing simpler PCBs..

First attempt at a simple PCB in reflow oven did not go very well. Next time, need to double-check the reflow profile (oops), and be more careful applying the paste (which I already knew). Also see if I can make stencils with vinyl or laser cutter.. Learnt lots of things though!

Couldn't find any existing code to communicate with it, so found the docs for the SCPI commands and produced some good-enough™ Python to control it remotely from Linux. Looking at the USB interface to a Owon AG2052F (function generator). It has USB ID 5345:1234 which means "USB on a random Owon device"; the datasheet claims it talks SCPI and .. well, sending it '*IDN?' gives the expected result, so I guess it does.

Some artifacts in my decoded video are really bad, quite a few spots where there is a *good* frame for a second and then it degrades into noisy blocks the next (almost identical) frame. Unfortunately the original decoder does the same, so I guess it's their encoder. ><

My ffmpeg rewrite/port of this demuxer+decoder seem to be working. The code is a huge mess, but plenty of time to tidy that up later. :) Here's a few small clips from mid-90s CD-ROM games which used it. Can anyone work out (or guess) which format/codec it is?pic.twitter.com/nv4EQw4XUL

Trying to implement another obscure video format for ffmpeg, based on a decoder I wrote in 2011. I fondly remember reverse engineering the player, all handwritten code; it used the segment registers to hold base pointers by updating the descriptors before rendering each frame.

Doing random stuff was fail; tried apitrace. It views OpenGL calls/state, didn't help. More success by replacing shaders with stubs. Text shader doesn't appear unless I hardcore its texture id. Not sure if correct, "debugging" continues. (yes, I am too sick to do real work

If I dump a printf in the text-writing function then I can see that it's executing code and trying to display happy messages, but I guess something is going wrong in these 1000 lines of OpenGL code which I copied without thinking about. Let's, uhm, *rolls dice*, try valgrind.

So I copy-and-pasted the (Objective C) OpenGL driver from the Mac code and turned everything into global variables/functions, and then .. well, suffice it to say that it builds on Linux as plain C code now. And ltrace tells me it's doing all kinds of OpenGL stuff! Yay!
