dunno if Debian does avahi in the default install, but I gave mine unique hostnames and can unplug the ones I wasn't looking for

none of mine are actively plugged in they’re in an offline pile in storage box
setting a hostname to help remember context might help but plugging each one in and waiting for a boot would be inefficient
