but very difficult to contest Meadows point. Hatch Act is not something that has elicited much excitement from voters. It's the stuff of DC cocktail hours and social circuits, and elicits the occasional rise inside I-495 but rarely outside it.

It's why Hatch Act allegations ring so hollow. Whenever a president says something with a popular political appeal from the White House, it's construed as a violation.
