Trump voters in 2016 said they wanted *respect*. For three years they celebrated a moral trash fire of a human being - and cannot understand why they are still not respected. If Trump wins in 2020, they'll be even more furious... because they know that respect is never coming. /1

The irony, of course, is that they want "respect" from people they claim to hate. The support of others like themselves is not enough for them. They demand approval from the people they claim they don't care about and whom they swear don't matter. It is central to their fury. /2

When I was a young conservative, people called me a Nazi and fascist and all kinds of names because I was voting for Reagan and Bush. Didn't matter to me. The people who were voting with me were the ones whose views I cared about. I wasn't angry that others looked down on me. /3

When I was a conservative I never had anyone particularly care about who I was voting for. Things got nasty with the Tea Party (and I mean the @GOP got nasty, not the other side)...it was time to get away from them & the toxic waste they were brewing.
