Maybe times have changed and this is just the way people talk now? I stopped visiting /r/starcraft because of how common it is for people to post and upvote abusive chat logs. Apparently people want to read the abuse and share it to others.

What happened to two people playing a video game together for fun and engaging in a respectful competition? People have very different attitudes now than 12-15 years ago.

Its doubtful that there is much of a team left to moderate the game, as sc2 is being moved into maintenance mode as per the last announcement.
-
Hmm I never thought they trained mods for specific games. I thought chat abuse reports went to bnet mods. So I wouldn't think that anything would change. But I don't know how it works.

Seems rare for them to take action. Is there a permanent individual mute in SC2? Like in Dota, where you mute someone and he stays muted for you. It's pretty disappointing that SC is at the same state as other games, despite how clean it has always appeared in the pro scene.
-
Yeah you can block individual people but it's so common that the smarter move is to use parental controls to mute your own account so that you can't send or receive messages from anyone at all.

It just seems very common in all games tbh. People defending by saying it's just trash talking like they do in real sports. But in all my years of real sports, I've seen trash talk but it was more like banter and not that. People think insulting others = banter...

Literally no change. Internet has always been a toxic place, there are just more resources invested in temporary evadable bans now.
