An simpler way might be to tell them protein and fat is allot more satiating calorie for calorie. I don’t doubt someone could loose weight on a calorie restrict Oreo diet, but it allot easier upping protein

You can totally lose weight on Oreos. Donuts too. Just eat fewer oreos or donuts than what your caloric output is for the day.

Have you told them that diets fail (in the long term) in more than 90% of cases so they might as well give up and learn to love themselves as they are? That'd probably go down a treat too.
