I have just released versions 0.9.1 and 0.10.0 of seaborn, a Python library for data visualization. The new versions contain a number of improvements, and version 0.10.0 drops support for Python 2. Check out the release notes for more information:

Opening for an Open Source Advocate with NumFOCUS, the non-profit behind most of the scientific Python ecosystem. It is impossible to overstate the impact these tools have had on science over the last decade.

I have spent that last week talking to many people in Japan and I am very much looking forward to working with the great quantum computing experts in Japan. So much potential and lets do great things together.

Interestingly, there was no decrease in hardware usage over Thanksgiving. With 710 million quantum circuits run on that day, it seems some users were able to slip in a couple of jobs between dinner, dessert, and food coma.

A zoo of codes using . Immensely grateful to the warriors of open source scientific computing who make it possible to do such cool things so easily. Tutorial coming up soon on the QuTiP page!

It is interesting to note that at the time the Google Quantum Supremacy paper came out, members of the network had already run 14.5 million circuits on the 53 qubit ibmq_rochester device. Wright bros. analogy coming soon...

The reduction in not only average CNOT error rate but also the variance for the 20 qubit devices over the last two years is quite dramatic. Whoever made this awesome looking plot deserves a beer .

And there’s a difference between an experiment in a lab setting versus achieving practical use for science and business. Hype the science result but do not overhype the implications. If you are really interested in applications of qc, our 10 systems are available for you

For that matter has provided access to real quantum computers via the cloud since 2016 and just this week hit 10 total available systems! We foster and grow an active community to explore how to achieve quantum advantage (not supremacy) for science and business.

The new 53-qubit Rochester device out next month is not only over twice as large as our other systems, but it is the first publicly available gate-based quantum computer to be out of reach of generic classical simulators. Unless you have 128 pebibytes of memory of course.

This is quantum inspiration: making a fleet of 10 systems available (soon 14) on the cloud, including a 53 qubit machine next month. Out of the lab and into real datacenters for eventual Quantum Advantage for customer use cases
