Ok that's good to know, I wish it was better documented or better indexed on google. pop_os and when i googled ubuntu they mentioned you had to use some 3rd party app.

I call this a huge bullshit :-) 1. Download iso 2. dd But I guess someone has to bash Linux :-) (pun intended :-) )

That's not it at all, in other comments I mentioned I tried that in the past and it didn't work, and docs didn't mention it would work either but instead had the more convoluted process I mentioned.

You misunderstood. Linux has same dd process. People just don't follow it there...

the ISO that linux distro's use is specially crafted to be able to be bootable from USB hybrid iso , as they call it . .. and some times i don't even dd .. i just # cat foo.iso > /dev/sdc

If you want to save disk writes and time, you could do curl | dd, but say goodbye to checksum verification.
