Why isn’t Silicon Valley more engaged civically? For those that have done well, you don’t see folks engaging in local non-profits (the arts, homelessness, etc) the way people do in NY or LA. And given that we are nothing if not systems designers, can we design a solution? ##

That’s a fair argument that the definition of “art” has changed, and strongly in SF. While true, I do think classic art orgs (museums, galleries, live theaters and music) need strong patronage from the next generation for ALL art to thrive

With the amount of content available online, demand for live content decreases because why not just stay home and watch on a tablet? Few plays are superior in person (Pianist of Willesden Lane was one). But immersive art seems promising! Maybe escape rooms are the next theater.

Have you been to plays lately? We have season tickets to a MV/PA area theater production and we are invariably the youngest patrons in the theater. By decades.
