“radical honesty” is actually pretty hard because we’re so used to language being gamified that even if you say exactly what you feel people will generally presume you must be implying something else

I think we live in an incredibly ideologically driven time as people are caught in cycles of distrust and relative isolation. They therefore often turn to ideological patterns of thinking for a sense of identity.

Imo english has too much baggage from its mis-use in mass media, simple things no longer mean what they should. Layers of sarcasm, irony, dishonesty. So we turn to other languages, art, gesture, action.

We are so used to projecting an image, or playing a role, in different situations in our lives. What we do in our workshops is to create a context in which honest sharing is normalized and practiced. And, it's really hard for folks to come out of these roles they've created...

If you are attempting to have a radically honest conversation with someone close to you, first create a context by saying: "I want to talk to you about ______ and I make myself afraid that you won't take me seriously. Are you willing to sit with me and have a conversation?"
