just texted a friend about a chocolate bar and fb showed him an ad for it 10 minutes later so they’re clearly reading texts, anyone know how they’re doing that on ios?

Then obviously it’s Apple selling the data since the carrier never sees that anyway

My guess is fb might be reading this from notifications: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/unusernotificationcenter#1682069 …

It says "Returns a list of the app’s notifications that are still displayed in Notification Center." Doesn't that mean just their own apps notification, not all apps' notification?

Well that's weird. I was thinking any one party might be enough to do the ad retargeting, e.g. if your friend allows FB apps to read texts and it also knows who you are, and pushing the retargeting that way.

If Whatsapp is Fb then data share?
