Almost everyone would make this trade, if they could trust the info being shared by others I think. The problem is all in validation.

yeah in my head it’s an app where you have to verify with a paystub or something to join but your name stays anonymous (or not, if you’re fine with that!)

Those are pretty important factors! I'd also include the country where you live, in development countries (like the one I live in) salaries are extremely low.

Anonymous sharing definitely helps, but current versions of this (Glassdoor, http://Levels.fyi , etc) lack a lot of nuance - not showing breakdowns by gender/race/age, for example. To really shine a light on salary discrimination one needs more comprehensive data.
