would love to hear more nuance on this but my current take on “cancel culture isn’t real” is that people who clearly have done something criminal/totally egregious stay “cancelled” for a while but people in situations with lots of ambiguity/polarized opinions tend to recover

also this is totally opening pandora’s box but the whole woody allen situation and how he’s been publicly reviled for many years but is also defended by some of the most high-profile actresses in hollywood
