this is all subjective/anecdotal btw but I was a super sensitive/intense kid when I discovered CBT and found it incredibly effective (I’ve read probably 20+ books on it...) but now realize the ability to stop all your negative thoughts in their tracks is not without a cost

Yeah. CBT is running a debugger. I want to fix some root causes and also be ok w feeling not ok. That’s more non-attachment, acceptance therapy.

Totally. I came upon the realization recently of auto regulation... and how because of childhood and the attachment issues I developed, I auto regulate from a place of anxiety... while still hard to rewire myself, getting to these roots have been life changing.
