something that continually boggles my mind is that people LOVE writing reviews even though they mostly “get” nothing from it—I’m talking reviews of utilitarian objects, not book reviews—and many many companies (like Rent the Runway) totally rely on this to succeed

I think people enjoy the social capital earned when telling friends about a new restaurant or band. Must be a similar concept/feeling for sharing hair brush feedback to strangers on the internet
