Very sad to hear that Clive Sinclair has died. This man changed the course of my life. And arguably, the digital age for us in the UK started with the Sinclair ZX80, when thousands of kids learnt to code using 1k of RAM. For us, the Spectrum was like a Rolls Royce with 48k.

Nastasi Towers? No thanks. 73-year-old Sicilian mechanic turns down millions in cash -- and offer of new luxury skyscraper named after him — for his small building in LIC. “What am I going to do with the money?” Let's hear it for the holdouts!

I’ve been on a Facebook project for months, and it’s nowhere near done. But this is the first story: TL:DR: Facebook, which talks a lot about democratizing voice, secretly exempted “VIP” users from its rules in “not publicly defensible” ways.

I remember so well tackling this issue for NYT because I got to ask Rupert Holmes if he cared that Wikipedia spoiled the ending of "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)." His rage was incandescent.

I can't imagine turning on a radio and *not* hearing Phil Schaap, whose voice was as unique & authoritative as the jazz greats he championed in merciless detail. Max Roach told in 2001 'He knows more about us than we know about ourselves'

Can an open society avoid being overwhelmed by racists and trolls? There's hope: tells how one Wikipedia editor saw too many articles glorifying Nazis & decided that needed to change

After years reporting on Wikipedia, the story of Ksenia Coffman jumped out because I had never seen an editor single-handedly shape how WP covers a topic as important as Nazis' conduct in WW II. Also, her work dealt as much w moral truth as factual truth.

Ksenia Coffman’s fellow editors have called her a vandal and a McCarthyist. She just wants them to stop glorifying fascists—and start citing better sources.

The conservatives on the Supreme Court refurbished an old segregationist argument and used it to bust unions. There's no reason to think their attacks will stop with labor, but I'm not sure Democrats are listening. My latest in

The Supreme Court’s conservative majority strikes another blow against labor unions, overturning an important California regulation giving unions access to organize farm workers. Is there doubt that this is an activist Court fighting for the 1%?
