The extra benefit of blocking ignorant people so they get angry and promote your ideas far and wide. I blocked Stephan Molyneux (simply because I don't like him & his racial theories) so he just did an entire video on my IQ paper to his 800k followers.https://twitter.com/saifedean/status/1081166909872181248 …

I think the use of arrogant is wrong by these people. Arrogance is based on presumption, which IMO is fragile, and the most abundant source of stupidity (IYIs more likely to be arrogant). Brash/frank confidence not the same ting. I am with Edward de Bono on this issue.

I see a compulsive anxiety to show why he is correct using first principles. As an aspie my behaviours can be misinterpreted for the same reasons! Watching Tabeb is interesting as it is a state of mind I'm familiar with. He displays autistic "traits" Traits don't = diagnosis
-
Correction it is a compulsion not to show why he is correct but a compulsion to show and prove "truth". A primal urge of any mathematician.

I once read a hostile review of a Taleb book that said, in many words, that he was too arrogant. That was the review that sold the book. Who wants brilliant ideas offered up with an apology on the side? I like reading the thoughts of folks who feel pretty sure they got it right.

I watched a bit of Molyneux’s “rebuttal.” To say the least, he wasn’t doing a great job. It’s clear he’s gone all-in on a sort of IQ determinism and doesn’t want you messing that up.

Imbecile
@StefanMolyneux reminds me to dangerous, ideologically possesed and dogmatic pseudo-scientists like Trofim Lysenko (even if epigenetics is actually kind of a thing, he didn't believe in genes at all).

That’s not necessarily true. People respond to someone they deem an idiot if said idiot is famous/has a large following. I’m not saying you are an idiot, just pointing out something. I’m not intelligent enough to figure out who’s right on this subject.

-
Oh, and I’m blocked by Molyneux btw. Haha.
