    So the new RTX hardware is able to jump in to shaders via a table. Does this mean it is able to call function pointers within a shader? Can shaders finally be modular at execution time? This would solve a few tricky problems!

    I encourage you to disregard the detail that the RTX figures probably account for thousands or millions of polygon intersections instead of about a dozen analytically intersected primitives.

    Reminder that while everyone is losing their brains over "10 GRays/s", my 4k intro from also casts at almost that exact rate on a GTX 1080 Ti (1280 × 720 × 4 × 128 × 24 ≈ 11.3 GRays/s)

    We would have the tools for doing this, but not the legislation (aside from national things like the NFPB) which puts the burden of resources on an individual who has to work somewhere in the grey area. It mystifies me how these aren't more prevalent political issues.
