BONUS BOOK: Creative Selection by Ken Kocienda is the best book I’ve read about product development since Soul of a New Machine. It is absolutely phenomenal. Truly incisive look at the inside of Apple at its peak under Steve Jobs. Absolutely mandatory for anyone in tech.pic.twitter.com/qKt34tGnUX

It was an excellent book, but let’s not get carried away. I will say that it tells a great history of autocomplete and how Ken got our chubby little fingers to make sense out of even tinier keyboards. Also paints a very fair picture of the pressures Scott Forstall had to navigate

I thought it was detailed in a way not many books are about the way a company (Apple in this case) develops products. There are a lot of crap business books full of generalities, so it’s refreshing in its embrace of specifics. (To me, at least.)

0/ over the break, I've been reading about Apple's design process during the pre-Safari/pre-iPhone age, in this book by @kocienda. I'm about halfway but wanted to report a couple thoughts. https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Selection-Inside-Apples-Process/dp/1250194466 …

The first chapter of Creative Selection says so much about so many topics in so few words. Probably learned more about Apple, product reviews, role of trust/editing/judgment in software dev & a design driven culture than almost anything else I have ever read.
