Last week, we found more than a dozen 2020 Santos donors whose identities could not be confirmed. Many were listed at addresses that don't exist. For 2022, the Santos campaign reported receiving nearly $80,000 from relatives of Santos and treasurer Nancy Marks.

One of the Santos relatives told me yesterday that they had no idea that the Santos campaign reported them as giving $5,800—the legal maximum. "I’m dumbfounded," the person said. They added, "“I don’t have that money to throw around!”

One of the 2020 donors listed at an address they don't live at was named Stephen Berger. In 2022, a Stephen Burger donated $21,600 to various Santos groups on the same day. We are still trying to find that Stephen as well.

Do we know that he actually received any of these donations and/or loans? It may all be a huge grift since Ted Cruz won a SC ruling allowing lawmakers to use political contributions to pay off loans. How much of his finances are real and how much is just laundromat churn?
