Thank you for this explanation. So did the Reddit people make money in the end or was this solely out of activism? Fitting that the app they uses was Robin Hood. This is soooo Mr. Robot

It depends on when the Reddit people sell. If you time it right you could make a profit. But since this is an artificial inflation of the stock price it should drop back down eventually, and then you could risk losing money.

well said... except we alll knew the bloated short float was growing for a v long time. turning point was RC taking a board seat. It was 19 at that time & they couldve covered then.

Good but doesn’t mention float - the number of shares in existence. Share shortage is a key part of this. Wouldn’t work without it. You need shorts near, at, or over 100% of extant shares, AND you need most buyers to hold. Only that stops the price from correcting.
