    Usually after experimenting on something in a notebook and deciding I want to keep the code I refactor so the bulk of the implementation is in a library and only the high-level API and maybe function calls to produce visualizations are still in the notebook.

    I mostly 100% agree. My only quibble is that notebooks can be great display and interaction layers for a reproducible workflow. He’s right they’re terrible for the bulk of the code.

    "git rebase --onto" is an abomination of CLI user experience. Mercurial makes this so much easier to do with revsets and the --source and --dest arguments to "hg rebase".
