Sneak peek from this year’s filed validation. is finished, now our field crews are off further south. Driving for hours to visit random sample blocks is tiring, but the views are worth it, right?! 😊

Sustainable : unlike most grains, Kernza is perennial. Plant it just once & it will grow back each year. This conserves soil by reducing erosion, conserves water, reduces ag chem run-off, & reduces fossil fuel use from tilling & replanting!

Bacteria eat rocks! ~"A full understanding of life requires an accounting of energy. We found that bacteria pull electrons from otherwise insoluble minerals. They get energy from eating rock & along the way supply nutrients for plants & life on Earth.”

Very informative piece by explaining satellite images of activity and the extreme heat conditions there. Also how the fires are so massive they are creating their own weather systems- pyrocumulous clouds and more.

I research wildfire. Fire is controlled by two things: ignition, and fuel. Climate change impacts both by increasing flammability (the likelihood something will burn) and the availability of dead, dry stuff on the landscape to burn. Folks yelling "arson" don't understand fire.

climate denial claims, "it's arson! it's been warmer before! fire's natural!" The truth? Human-induced climate change is a threat multiplier. It takes existing risks + amplifies them beyond imagining, affecting every living thing on this planet: including us.

Animation of Himawari-8 hotspots and burnt areas for fires in SE Australia, late October until now. You can see the daily pulse as fires quieten down overnight, as well as days of major fire runs.
