50 miles but the plum of smoke is so large it has cover the city of Chico, though winds are now blowing it south. This morning it looked like the fire was in the hills directly above the city.

Damn. Yeah all of a sudden 40-50 miles seems very close.

I mean not to mention the people in Paradise and the villages that are 5-10 miles or less.
