I agree with the main hypothesis. I think the main advantage of persistent collections in rust would be for having the history- easy undo, etc

interesting read, thanks! would transparent internal choice between trie vs actual memcpy make sense at all, e.g. based on size? c.f. some hash tbl impls that use a linear list for small n?
