Understanding how Rayon works has been fantastic. With Rayon + Futures co-existing in the same codebase you can pick your parallelization strategy! - Pick Rayon to optimize for throughput, reducing CPU cycles. - Pick Futures to optimize for latency, lowering response times.
Now that the Futures trait is stable, I've been wanting to revisit integration Rayon with futures + async-await, as well, to make it easier to do things like "spin off" CPU-bound work.
