The newest pre-print from the dropped! With , , and many others. We've discovered new luciferases from our sea fireflies (💡🦐), expressed a few proteins, and found some interesting mol. evolution with fun phenotypes!

James Lewis () and I had, at first sight, contrasting results ( vs. ). Here's how we reconcile them: “Mechanisms of Change: Unraveling the Roles of Modularity and Pleiotropy in Diversification” .

Recent grad Amanda Bonner, PhD, has a new paper in examining the regulation of Polo kinase during female meiosis, a result of her predoctoral work in the Hawley Lab . Amanda is now a postdoc in Lab.

While many of them are quite funny, I'd perhaps stop and think about junior coauthors before posting jokes about retractions. It's quite a stressful situation for them.

Our new article about the mitochondrial genome of the Beroe forskalii is out! 🎉 In this paper we showed that ctenophores have weird mitochondrial genes that seem to encode novel proteins, and we also developed some bioinformatics tools 🧬. Thread below.

Hey is there a ecological station that does semester abroad for undergrads and is accommodating to (not just accepting of) LGBTQ students? In my privilege I never appreciated this distinction. Please RT to help amplify my query. Thanks.

I just hit submit on a manuscript to biorxiv. Some of the experiments we report began circa 2012. Many scientific stories are more complicated and difficult than we expect, and take a long time to sort out. Hang in there! (I will of course tweet when it posts)
