  7. All in all, there are pros and cons to lectures and asynchronous solo learning. But I'd love to see a platform that tries to combine the benefits of both.

  8. The flipside is also that I think presenters get pretty jaded and annoyed when everyone is one their computers or not paying attention during the lecture - which seems somewhat inevitable nowadays (especially since people are taking notes on their computer too)

  9. When I read, listen to a podcast, or use youtube - that's exactly what I do. Skip the parts I know, rewatch the confusing parts several times. Lectures have the benefit of getting live clarification from a teacher - how can we bring that to an asynchronous learning medium?

  10. I'm taking a lecture style course right now and I remember why I did so badly in college I zone out during parts I want to speed up. But I can't go back to rewind the parts that confuse me, making me super lost for everything that follows

  13. Internally the things you should consider 1) How long would it potentially take for the company to reach the valuation it raised at 2) What is the opportunity of your cash investment in that time 3) What salary cut are you taking and does this adequately offset that

  14. When an employer gives you a stock package, always ask 1) Is this the price at the last raise or 409a? 2) When is the next 409a? 3) What is the liquidation preference stack? 4) What is the vesting schedule and exercise window?

  15. I've seen this jiu-jitsu many times with friends joining startups. Very easy to get confused by this if you don't know what to ask.

Startup idea: stunt doubles for CEOs. Speaking engagement? Stunt double Fireside where you’re basically not gonna day anything anyway? Stunt double Employee onboarding before they actually know who you are? Stunt double

  19. Common two themes were: 1) The term work has an imbued negative connotation, when the reality is for most people it's a net positive because it provides purpose 2) The separation of balance isn't hours, but identity and emotional entanglement between work and life

  20. In the last Get Real, I asked about how people thought about work-life balance Unsurprisingly, and the part that gets lost in nuance on Twitter, is that the main point of contention was around the definition of "work" and "balance" All answers here:
