Today, with nearly 15% of the military’s active-duty troops made up of women, we cannot afford to exclude leaders like Marine Corps Lieutenant Marina Hierl who are willing and able to serve on the front lines.

Opening combat jobs to women like Lieutenant Hierl legitimizes the contributions of past servicewomen and recognizes the significant role women are already playing on the battlefield.
