The UK has some of the highest visa fees in the world- a migrant family of 4 often has to pay ≈£50k over 10 years for the right to stay. How does govt expect families to pay rising energy bills, rising food bills *AND* huge visa fees? Without action we'll see more destitution.
This chart shows visa fees total over £10,450 for one person on the 10 year route. These figures are from 2021, fees are now higher.

This is a BIGGER bailout than 2008’s bank bailout!!!!! Is anyone understanding this????????? And it’s not even like energy suppliers are struggling like the banks who went bust or giving up equity… they were all bragging about profit they’ve returned to shareholders WEEKS ago!

i put a lot of time and effort into this piece because it feels like the most important thing i’ve written so far. it was painful and difficult to see how my country and its government continues to fail it’s people, but i’m truly grateful they trusted me with their stories.

OK, keep an eye out for this one. @mattzarb popped up with it, and now I've just had a second tweet with the same message. Someone seems to be peddling the line the government wants to kill more people than died in the second world war. Be interesting to see who pushes it.

i was going to ring my bf to come pick me up at the bus stop in front of a well lit block of flats bc i didn't feel safe walking home alone. when i hung up w my bf and called my ma back as she was worried, a man was leaving his flat in his running gear. rly a kick in the teeth.

he walked ahead of me and stopped, turned, and asked if he could talk to me. i said no, keep walking and stop following me. he called me a sket and pretended he was going to cross the road. when i walked ahead of him he began trailing me again until i said to my mum

i was followed by a man coming back from my run yday. i made the grave mistake of going out at 8:30 pm because i desperately needed to clear my head. i was on a very well lit road, on the phone to my mum, and i stopped bc i noticed he'd been trailing behind me for some time.

Sometimes people roll their eyes and make that face when I talk about how women face the constant risk of casual male abuse, intimidation and violence as they go about even the most mundane everyday activity. Stop rolling your eyes, start taking it seriously. twitter.com/minnyshell/sta…
