The UK has some of the highest visa fees in the world- a migrant family of 4 often has to pay ≈£50k over 10 years for the right to stay.
How does govt expect families to pay rising energy bills, rising food bills *AND* huge visa fees? Without action we'll see more destitution.

From today, Graduates of non-UK universities can apply to come to the UK through the new 'High Potential Individual' visa scheme. But this scheme appears to exclude anyone who studied at university in Africa.

i put a lot of time and effort into this piece because it feels like the most important thing i’ve written so far. it was painful and difficult to see how my country and its government continues to fail it’s people, but i’m truly grateful they trusted me with their stories.

While many have quite rightly highlighted the global nature of the conversation, it is also important to acknowledge the UK was - by far - the largest country of origin for the abusive Tweets we removed.

OK, keep an eye out for this one. @mattzarb popped up with it, and now I've just had a second tweet with the same message. Someone seems to be peddling the line the government wants to kill more people than died in the second world war. Be interesting to see who pushes it.

Missed this a few days ago but the new NCTJ diversity in journalism report dropped last week; not only is journalism 92% white (a decrease of only 2% from 2017), there's also been a 55% to 75% increase in the proportion of journos coming from the "highest social classes"

i was followed by a man coming back from my run yday. i made the grave mistake of going out at 8:30 pm because i desperately needed to clear my head. i was on a very well lit road, on the phone to my mum, and i stopped bc i noticed he'd been trailing behind me for some time.
