What happened today at Target is terrifying but just a reminder as the conceal carry discourse heats up around us: having a gun does not actually keep you safer. It *increases* the odds that you/someone close to you will become the victim of a firearm accident or shooting.

For months people have been asking me: “Hey Marcus, you working on any games?” And I’ve been like “Yeah, I’m helping out a friend with something REALLY COOL, but I can’t tell you anything about it.” … Well today, I finally can. 😁

We're going on an adventure! Preorder The Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game on Target.com starting January 31. #TheLordOfTheRings #LordOfTheRings #MiddleEarth
The Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game box sits atop a wooden tabletop surrounded by vegetables fresh from the garden, a bronze-toned mug of coffee, a brown leather backpack, and warm sunlight. The box depicts a round green door opening to reveal adventuring hobbits and a tall wizard with ominous mountains and a tower in the distance.

I only know that there’s a tailwind controversy, but I don’t actually know what the controversy is.

I’m at an Elixir meetup, overhearing everyone ask if they use Elixir in their day job. “No, I mostly do in my day job” is the most common response. 😬

If I can figure out a way to properly move my ZSH config to XDG_CONFIG_HOME, I think I'll be able to eliminate the .symlink files I have in my dotfiles repo!

The biggest changes were: - vim-plug → lazy.nvim - move setup files for plugins to after/plugin/*.lua - move git, tmux, and ripgrep configs into XDG_CONFIG_HOME instead of being in HOME - formatter.nvim → null-ls - lsp-installer → Mason - lot of clutter cleanup in UIs

I’m hopeful that tech #4 got things working today, even if it did result in yet another modem purchase. To be safe, I set up an install time for Century Link.

A network tech came and thinks he's resolved the problem. He didn't, I tried calling back & after 40 minutes of pleading, the best can do is send another home tech out to see if a network tech is needed again. This'll be the 4th tech to come & it's still not resolved.

I’m going on week 4 of intermittent internet and @coxcomm just will not fix it. Two technicians have come to my house and confirmed the problem is upstream in the network but when I call to check on the issue I’m still having, they try and reset my modem. 🤦‍♂️

With 3 monitors, 2 key lights, 2 cameras, a cable management system hanging underneath, and a microphone, I have maximized the number of things I can clamp to the back of this desk.
