Damn. 😔 3D touch is great, especially for games - there's nothing wrong with the tech itself, only the dreadful way Apple chose to integrate it into the UI. If it had just been introduced as a universal contextual menu shortcut it could've been so powerful.https://twitter.com/OhMDee/status/1132093087654842369 …

My most frequent use is opening normal/incognito tabs in safari😢 without it it’s an action requiring multiple taps 😫😫😫

Isn't that just a long press? Or is there a gesture I'm not aware of?

Long press in springboard is delete/move apps right 😐? 3D is much quicker. Plus if you want to open a tab of diff type then it requires multiple taps. Open safari Tab switcher Plus button (extra tap to switch to private) Tap on address bar. All above replaced by single 3D T G

Or am I missing something 😐 Long press is loooong. 3D is quicker. That’s all I felt. it feels like a hack.

I had assumed you meant the long press on the tab icon in Safari - I didn't realise you meant the springboard icon menu. IMO, all such menus should work with long press or 3D press (with the latter being the faster, preferable option on devices that support it)

Agree. 3D Touch is just much quicker & responsive to user interaction than long press is which is just a hack for lack of “right-click” on touch screen. I really don’t want to lose 3DT to long press 😫 I wanted it in iPad & now they are taking it away from even iPhone

It makes sense, considering the Xr doesn't support it, and it never made it to iPad. Apple likes feature consistency across the product line - if 3D touch isn't on every device then no critical app functionality can depend on it, which means it'll never be more than a gimmick.

See, I use that interaction the least. For me it’s cursor movement by far. Long pressing the space bar works but I don’t like it as much.

Also free-form cursor moving when typing with 3D Touch. It’s been just a couple of years since I bought a 3D Touch enabled iPhone and they’re scrapping it😞Well played Apple. Get rid of a powerful function just because devs (and in some apps you too) weren’t creative enough w/ it

How will the 3D Touch cursor work then? I use that feature every time I write something on this phone.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The way Apple implemented it is absolutely useless. But there's so much potential for the technology, as you said, especially in games. Imagine something like this combined with Nokia McLaren technology. So many interaction possibilities.
