Why I won't be watching the @Orioles this year thanks to @masnsports inability to give loyal fans what they want.

Another baseball season is upon us--let us take a second to rejoice! Unfortunately, unless I plan on attending the games in person (which I will), I will not be able to watch my beloved
@Orioles on TV.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
I, like many Orioles fans, have made the decision to cut the cord from the major cable companies in favor of streaming live TV. I happen to be using YouTube TV and not surprisingly, MASN is not a streaming option.

If you recall last year’s playoffs,
@MLB partnered with@YouTubeTV and streamed all the playoff games through their service. You couldn't miss all the advertising--it was on screen throughout the entire playoffs.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
Fox Sports and NBC Sports, who have regional sports network deals with 25 of the 30 major league teams, stream all games on YouTube TV for fans in each team’s respective markets. Even the YES Network (Yankees) and NESN (Red Sox) are available on YouTube TV in market.

Then there is MASN, who still won’t allow streaming on YouTube TV or any streaming network (Sling, Hulu, DirectTV Now, etc.). They also have been reluctant to stream in market games for fans who use http://MLB.TV and use a cable provider.

The only way to stream the
@Orioles or@Nationals games using the http://MLB.TV subscription is to use a virtual private network (VPN) which allows you to change the location of your IP address so that the service thinks you are out of the regional market.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
I do applaud the effort the Orioles are making to get young fans interested in the game with free tickets for kids under 9. And yet, these kids are growing up using and embracing technology.

There is no reason why MASN shouldn’t partner with YouTube TV and other streaming services to broadcast Orioles and Nationals games. They will reach a larger audience and perhaps even help make the decision easier for those considering cutting the cord.
