Curious what people in press coverage think of @BostonGlobe's Fresh Start initiative, which will rewrite and anonymize coverage of stories naming some people accused of crimes.https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/01/22/metro/boston-globe-launches-fresh-start-initiative-people-can-apply-update-or-anonymize-coverage-them-thats-online/ …

I think there needs to be truly permanent record of what was published available somewhere, to prevent the literal rewriting of history. But it doesn’t necessarily need to be the version Googlers get. I support the righting of wrongs especially when journalists were complicit.

An even more perverse form of indulgences? They erase not only the sinner’s guilt but the accusers.

As a lawyer who has represented some exonerated people, it can be really frustrating finding a job when the story of your conviction comes up above the story of your acquittal.

My high school Social Studies teacher did a little act to show us: "***JOHN SMITH INDICTED***" vs "john smith acquitted".

It’s a good idea but probably won’t be enough since it’s only one newspaper.
