Wow, there’s a lot of good here.  First so flattering to be a part of this culture.  Wow.  Listed with Randi, wow. And then to see Uri listed as a person who does tricks and doesn’t have powers, pretty great.  And Uri stuck with us and Randi forever.  Fuck him.

#AynRand was born today in 1905. Love her or hate her, for good or ill, few authors (Kerouac maybe?) have had the long shelf life she has. Here's a 2009 video taking a look at that, including snippets from #MadMen etc

This thread on national debt by is depressing but mandatory reading. Recall that market-friendly and Marxist economists agree that large, growing, unchecked debt depresses long-term economic growth. The future is less bright than it should be.

🧵Should the goal be to fully balance the budget? Many lawmakers are publicly declaring that goal. I love the deficit-cutting mentality, but fully balancing the budget is both unrealistic & unnecessary. The better goal would stabilize debt at current 95% of GDP. (1/12)

The US is in trouble because debt is rising faster than GDP, and headed to dangerous levels. CBO's rosiest scenario shows the debt soaring to 185% of GDP. At a 5% interest rate that means annual interest costs of 9.25% of GDP - which would consume half of all tax revenues. (3/)
