My kids went to Catholic school. We are not rich. Very far from it. Multiple jobs, used cars, no fancy vacations. Financial aid. No tutors. I know lots of families like ours.
-
My comment was not meant as commentary on private schools. Your point is well taken. I was thinking about the current debate about if public schools will open.

I'm thinking more immediately. I envision kids who get one shot at being 5 years old, or whatever, and once that year is passed they don't get it back. But I understand where you are going with that line of thought.

So, let's have publicly funded tutors and micro school pods, staffed by public employees! Perhaps we could all get our heads up out of the political crossfire, the union regs, the way we've always done public school and get serious about how to ensure all kids can learn safely!

I suggested this in another thread and it didn’t get any traction. I think community learning pods are an incredible idea.

And the poor will die more often if the disease spreads. We are choosing a lesser of two evils, yes, but one of them is significantly lesser. Keeping school buildings closed will help all more in the long run than opening them.

Will it? The American Academy of Pediatrics doesn't think that is true. (I'm not taking sides. I'm sharing info and raising a question.) https://services.aap.org/en/pages/2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-infections/clinical-guidance/covid-19-planning-considerations-return-to-in-person-education-in-schools/ …

Get a grip lady. My parents sacrificed a lot to send us to catholic schools, because public schools became unsafe and not a good learning atmosphere. What caused that? Let’s get to the root of the problem!

I wasn't making a comment on public versus private school. The tweet was about the current debate on it public schools are opening this fall for in-person instruction.
