    Go is designed to be easy to learn. But I wonder if skills are really transferable. I mean, can draw a cute gopher? And can write a Go program? 😁

    Relying on tracebacks for error reporting is how you end up with a 50 line traceback for a failed dns lookup that is 95% irrelevant library stack context and 0% actual hostname attempted.

    Some programmer complain about simplicity. This reminds me of Oulipo, a group of writers and mathematicians seeking to create literary work using constrained techniques writing techniques. Go is the Oulipo of programming: its simplicity stimulates creative programming 🙂

    Most real life applications outside of web big players don't need a cluster and a database server. A single machine, SQLite, and continuous backup using snapshots can be enough.

    These are the notes from this talk: The excellent organizers are going to post a video later. Over time I am going to break this up into a series of articles on how to build 1 process programs in today's clouds. Got some programming to do first.

    A really interesting "tweet storm" from , tech lead, about dependency management in Go, and the events that led to the experimental package manager built-in in Go 1.11.

    This is an absolutely fair criticism - we have not handled the community process around dependency management well. The core Go team was not involved early or often enough for that process to lead to a smooth landing. As tech lead for Go, that was my fault, and I apologize.

    We’re finally finished removing jQuery from frontend. What did we replace it with? No framework whatsoever: • querySelectorAll, • fetch for ajax, • delegated-events for event handling, • polyfills for standard DOM stuff, • CustomElements on the rise.
