    Thank you! It was a scientific delight to collaborate with the CKiD investigators. All credit should be given to families, participants and coordinators who made/make this study a national treasure!

    Strong words for epidemiologists to consider

    “What’s the mechanism?” can be a really ridiculous question. When a truly novel observation is made, almost by definition, the mechanism is unknown (and what qualifies as a “mechanism”?). Asking scientists to wait YEARS before sharing an exciting observation is irresponsible.

    It is a big world with lots to discover. New discoveries require new instruments and measurements.

    In Epidemiology these days students really do not know how to collect primary data or how to construct a reliable questionnaire. It is our responsibility to ensure they master these basic skills rather than the newest statistical methods.
