We need a coordinated plan to stop the surge of organized retail crime.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/21/us/san-francisco-shoplifting-epidemic.html …

The first and most impt step is getting rid of @chesaboudin @SFDAOffice. Then people to get behind things like prop 20. Prop 47 is a disaster. I’m sorry, it is. And none of the programs that were supposed to work exist. Well, they are either nonexistent or they don’t work.

Did you actually read the article? Property crime is unchanged (it’s actually down) in SoCal - which also has Prop 47. So this is a Bay Area thing.

This stmt no longer passes the straight face test if you live in LA or SF. It just doesn’t. People stop reporting. They stop calling the police. That’s a very real phenomena.

Why are the results different in SF and LA if it’s a statewide law

For one, SF and LA are cities. So, they are more populous. But for another, @chesaboudin @SFDAOffice and @LADAOffice @GeorgeGascon are problematic. If you commit a theft in SF or LA, at the moment it’s not being charged (1/x)

San Jose is a city, too, and Valley Fair Mall, for example, has more designer brands per square foot than any other shopping center. Prada, Rolex, LV, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany — all right near each other and near easily accessible exits. But it doesn’t happen there.
