That happens a lot.
They have nurses doing the job a doctor should be doing. They justify that with 1 doctor overseeing the entire clinic.

My husband is trying to get VA assistance (Agent Orange side effects) to no avail! Doc said, " I can only do what THEY ALLOW me to do!"

It would be comical if not such a serious situation! VA doc told him had had a heart attack when he hadn't (per his primary & cardiologist)!

Sadly the current choice program is not accepted by most doctors. 1 DR did accept it. She did not get paid by the gov until 6 mths after.

Choice Program is mostly hype and a feel good measure for pols. It's a good idea, but VA Bureau rats lack incentive to implement properly.
