Right, the only way to do this is to legalize drugs. Some will be lost to a dead end lifetime of drug abuse, just as some are now lost to a lifetime of alcohol abuse. But eliminating income for outlaw organizations and reducing incarcerations are worth the cost.

The cartels exist because Americans want the drugs is the corollary response. The cartels do not exist at the power level they have if our drug laws were smarter rather than prohibitive.
