  Just finished the book. There was a blackout on the East Coast in 2003. Walking to the top of the Palisades in New Jersey looking at NYC I was stunned that it was pitch black. Superstorm Sandy in 2012 resulted in power loss & gas available on alternate days. Small taste of EMP.
