If the people of Hong Kong wanted Communism and state control over their economic activity, they would VOLUNTARILY join China, and submit to their laws. They don't. They never have. They should declare independence, as should Taiwan. US should support them.

China must decide if they want communist or the freedoms of capitalist going forward. There is no middle ground anymore. And freedoms are not something that goes back into to bottle and sealed very well. Remember 1989 Tiananmen Square anyone? Hong Kong listen out for tanks.
