The wall is pork. Nothing more. Funding the govt and the wall are separate items and should be treated as such. trump is holding the country and fed employees hostage for his failed campaign con of a Mexico funded wall.

Trump didn't sign any bill to shut down the government. The democrats told him to either sign their bill or the government would shut down. Trump said he would if there was funding for the wall. The democrats refused. Now because of this refusal people are not being paid.

To put it in perspective, the $5.7 billion wall is 0.137% of the $4.07 trillion budget. If your budget was $100,000, the wall would cost $137. Having all the politicians going on the same health insurance as the rest of us would cover it.
