UPDATE: Contradicting Jimenez, Comelec director Lai David tells Teleradyo no decision will be released today. "'Di pa po ready ang draft. Kasama na rin po iyong lawyers sa office ng commissioner na sinubmit, iyong ponente po, tinamaan ng COVID."

Asked to clarify Atty. Lai David's statement, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez says, “There will be an announcement about information that will be announced later today."

UPDATE: Comelec will make an announcement at around 11:30 am. A side note: recent press briefings by James Jimenez were only for reporters and were not allowed to be livestreamed, but this one will be.

The Comelec's 2nd Division drops a bombshell today, ahead of the initially scheduled promulgation of the 1st Division ruling on consolidated Marcos DQ cases. Take note that this is only one in 5 petitions against Marcos' candidacy.

For our readers, there are 2 divisions in the Comelec. The 1st Division is handling 3 cases against Marcos; the 2nd Division is handling 2. The petition that was junked by the 2nd Division is a high-profile one, filed by civic leaders whose lawyer is ex-SC spokesman Ted Te.

Take note: whatever the decision will be/ has been, the camp in the losing end can APPEAL their decision to the Comelec en banc (meaning the entire commission).

The 2nd Division, which junked the petition to cancel Marcos' candidacy, is composed of commissioners Socorro Inting and Antonio Kho Jr, both Duterte appointees who hail from Mindanao. Kho is also Duterte's frat brother.

The question now is: what will the 1st Division do? The 1st Division is composed of Aquino appointee Rowena Guanzon, and Davao commissioners Marlon Casquejo and Aimee Ferolino, Duterte appointees but are also career officials who rose from the ranks.

Rey Bulay, the newest Comelec commissioner, is also a signatory to the 2nd Division ruling. Bulay, Kho, and Duterte are all frat brother. Bulay, before his Comelec stint, was Manila's chief prosecutor.

With cases against Marcos Jr. still unresolved at the en banc level (aka whole Comelec), the dictator's son is expected to be included on the official ballot.

Final ballot face containing final list of candidates for the 2022 polls expected to come out today, James Jimenez says.

If Marcos is DQ-ed with finality before May polls, votes cast for him will be considered stray, unless he is substituted by anyone WITH THE SAME SURNAME.
